Understanding Different Types of Vanity Units

Vanity units are built to help with storage as well as keeping a bathroom look neat and tidy. Cluttered bathrooms make finding and storing your hygiene products and bathroom essentials quite a task. With a vanity unit, you can organize and easily store bathroom supplies. Plus, with the right vanity, you can add a touch of elegance to a bathroom.

Fitted standing vanity

This is the most common vanity unit. It’s fitted to the floor and wall. Hence, it’s very stable. It can support many types of sinks. It’s available in different sizes. This vanity unit is common because it provides ample storage. It can come with drawers or cupboards.  It also hides the pipes and drains that connect to the tap and sink. This creates a clean look. Additionally, most of these units come with a large working surface at the top.

Floating Vanities

These vanities are mounted directly on the wall. Most people consider them modern and sleek. Floating vanities leave spaces underneath. This makes cleaning easy. You must be careful not exert excess force on the unit. This might cause it to fall off and damage your wall or floor.

Types of Vanity units

Vessel Vanity

If you’re looking for a fancier look for your bathroom, try the vessel vanity. In fact, you’ll find this kind of unit in many high-end restaurants. It has a rising bowl that protrudes above the working surface. The sink has a fancy sleek design that stands out. Like other units, it will have storage below in the form of drawers and cupboards. Though, it has a beautiful design it can occupy a large space. Hence, it is not ideal for smaller bathrooms.

Under-mounted Sink

In this unit, the sink is directly inside the vanity. This design creates a flatter appearance at the top for a modern look. The edges of the sinks should be smooth and well refined for an overall attractive look. In spite of its great look, this vanity has less storage than other units. The inbuilt basin will occupy more space at the bottom. Nevertheless, the overall look of the vanity makes it worth it.

Shelf vanity

It’s the easiest to install and the most affordable. It has a sink and an open shelf at the bottom for your products. For a more aesthetic look, you can put your products and supplies in little baskets and then put the baskets on the shelves.

Pedestal Sink

If storage is not the main priority, you can opt for a free-standing sink. This unit blends in with most themes. It will also fit in any kind of bathroom whether large or small. It adds a classic look to your space.

Vanity Unit Shapes

Vanity units come in different shapes with square, rectangular, and circle designs being the most common. It all depends on where you want to place them. Circular and square designs are great for smaller bathrooms and powder rooms. For larger rooms, you can choose rectangular double-unit vanities. Vanity units Materials

The storage areas are typically made of wood. Drawers, cupboards, and shelves should have sturdy wood that can handle the humidity found in bathrooms. Materials used for the countertop vary. Top surfaces can be made of stone, laminate, quartz, tiles, porcelain, and wood. The material should not absorb water. The counter-top should have a high-quality finish. It should be durable and easy to clean.
